Construction Themed Amusement Park
March 25, 2014 - I recently stumbled upon an article reporting on the upcoming construction themed amusement park that will be built in New Jersey (http://www.constructionequipmentguide.com/Diggerland-Theme-Park-Offers-Loads-of-Fun/22295/). This caught my attention because aside from being the most awesome team member here at Blackbird Asset Services I am also a mother of an 18 month old little boy who finds nothing more fascinating than driving by a piece of heavy equipment on the highway. It seems that this new amusement park called Diggerland Adventure Park is actually coming to New Jersey from the UK. There are four locations already and from the photos on their website it looks pretty fun.
The Difference Between Advertising and Marketing
March 17, 2014 - While writing a marketing report I began wondering if there was a difference between advertising and marketing. Are they the same? To the surprise of many they are in fact very different.
Why Should I Sell At Auction?
March 11, 2014 - There are various ways to sell your assets, so what makes an auction the best alternative? While this blog will focus on real estate auctions, the concepts discussed here apply equally to equipment auctions.
Unmanned Drones At Auctions?
March 3, 2014 - The online store, Amazon really stirred things up in the month of December when its CEO announced that they were working on an ongoing project to distribute items via little “octocopters” called drones.

How Manufacturing Growth Impacts the Auction Industry
January 14, 2014 - An industry report showed that U.S. manufacturing ended the year 2013 on a high note. The broad measure of U.S. industrial output grew in December at its fastest pace in 11 months. The rate of job growth continued to be negative despite the growth in GDP as the long term unemployed exited the job market (and also exit this statistic- which skews things- making the “measured” unemployment rate lower than it actually could be reported).
Blackbird and The Catwalk for Charity
December 17, 2013 - Here at Blackbird Asset Services in Buffalo, NY we just wrapped up the live auction for Ryan Millers “Catwalk for Charity” to benefit the Seadfast Foundation. Although Blackbird has participated in previous years, this was my first time and it was awesome!
Progression of Online Auctions
December 12, 2013 - While writing the blog on webcast auctions I started to think about how popular online auctions have become. Back in the early 1990’s, the idea of online only “computer bid auctions” flew around CAI classes at Bloomington like Buck Rodgers stories. “Some Day, you’ll all be replaced” claimed Steve Martin (one of the founders of the CAI program).
Benefits of Webcast Auctions
November 26, 2013 - As time goes on it seems that more and more Blackbird auctions include the webcast feature. Not just Blackbird auctions, but a larger percentage of industrial auctions are now webcast; and even auctions of smaller commercial offerings. For those who are new to webcast auctions, a webcast auction is a service that allows bidders from all over the world to bid on assets for sale at the same time as those in the auction room at a live (“old fashioned”) auction.
Novemeber 14, 2013 - We recently evaluated a hospital that had previously closed; one of a few in our area similarly positioned for some type of reuse ( Buffalo - Western New York area ). Quite a dilemma – what can be done with these buildings once they are no longer needed in the medical industry? As we continued to research we learned that there are some creative and interesting renovations being done throughout the country to turn hospitals and medical centers into useful and economically viable structures.
